New Zealand extreme sports legend Chuck Berry has been working on building a high altitude microlight in his garage for the last three years. He’s finally brought his dream to reality and finished the plane with amazing results. The team at Red Bull have been working hard on making a documentary of his journey in bringing the craft to life. Below is an excerpt from the the doco. It was really nice to see that some of my shots made it into the cut (the shots of Chuck building the microlight in his garage).
Glastonbury 2011 was EPIC to say the least with close to 200 000 people in the grounds celebrating their love for music! I was asked to do some filming at Glastonbury for TVNZ on the Arcadia Stage to film their midnight extravaganza with flashing lights, flame throwers, lightening strikes and fire dancers. It was very exciting and really interesting to see both sides of the walls, backstage and front stage. The anticipation for the Saturday night performance was exhilarating with all the cast getting into costume and amping themselves up for show time. The backstage crew were buzzing around like flys making last minute adjustments and checking that everything was all set and ready to go bang on midnight. As the clock drew nearer to 12 AM the crowds began to fill around the Arcadia stage in multitudes. It was immense. Everyone wanted to see what this extraordinary show was all about and boy were they in for a show. The clock struck midnight. The cheering and screams of excitement were about to reach breaking point and the cast entered, the music began and there was no looking back.
On top of the Arcadia show I had time to explore other parts of the never ending fields of the Glastonbury Festival. I saw circus acts, dancers, comedians, musicians, bands and I was fortunate enough to have the time to see the sensation known as U2. AMAZING!
Over all, aside from the mud, the lack of showers, the heavy flow of rubbish, the portaloos and the overwhelming size of the Festival. I had a wonderful time seeing talented people perform in their chosen field and excelling. It was well worth the experience after hearing so much about it from my family and friends. I know can say I was there! Glastonbury 2011!
A few months ago I did a job with Red Bull and NZ Green Room Productions filming the fmx rider Nick Franklin. It was an extremely exciting shoot with Nick throwing himself over a huge jump and doing extraordinary tricks. Here is the clip that was put together from the day:
On the Wednesday before I left for England thanks to Matt and his radio controlled heli we shot some aerial shots for a Free Running doco that I’m editing at the moment. Its an amazing piece of equipment which has a lot of potential and unlimited camera angles. The heli rig requires two people to operate it. One person flys the heli while the other person operates the camera using a controller and goggles which has a live video signal of what the camera sees. I was fortunate enough to be operating the camera and had an awesome time doing it. Check out some sneak preview shots of what we got up to. Boom!

The Red Bull Performance Snowboarding Camp was just over a month ago now. It was an epic trip where I learnt so much and had the opportunity to work with some incredibly talented and inspiring people. The highlights video of the 2 week camp is now available online. Check it out:
In April this year I had the privilege with NZ Green Room and Red Bull to go down and film Ben Brown, a pro kayaker conquering the Nevis Bluff in Queenstown. It was an impressive feat traveling down such a powerful river in something as small as a kayak. It was amazing to see it live and be able to film Ben doing what he loves. Bens a really great guy whose really down to earth and easy going! It was awesome spending a couple of days with him and learning about all his adventures. The piece we did on Ben that went live on Skysports a few weeks ago and is now available online:
