Sci-fi 48hour Film Challenge 2011

Two weeks ago we participated in the Sci-fi London 48hour film challenge which was EPIC! Over the 48hours I had about 3 or 4 hours sleep so by the end of it I was having trouble keeping my eyes open. It was an incredible experience working with extremely talented and enthusiastic people who were all there to make a film we could be proud of. At the start of the 48hours we were given a line, a title and a prop. We then had 48 hours to write, shoot and edit a film. It was complete madness but I loved every moment of it and I can’t wait to participate in the challenge again. Here’s the finished film which was completed 45 minutes before the deadline:

TITLE: WHO’S WATCHING WHO

DIALOGUE: His teeth are chattering, he’s sweating. He has a fever.
PROP: 9 Biscuits on a white plate – One of the characters takes one?

Virgin Media Shorts

The Virgin Media Shorts competition has been avertising everywhere in the UK. Its a well known competition sponsored by a huge media company. It’s a great way to get noticed as a filmmaking and have you work seen by hundreds of thousands of people. I was watching some of the finalists from past years and these were my two favourite:

Ben spends his time listening to his Dad’s old 70′s vinyl and making mixtapes on an old double deck tape recorder. He makes a tape to try and woo the girl next door, Lily, the girl of his dreams.

Meet Ben – he holds a sign for a living, and he loves his job more than almost anything. But today is his last day.

Youthtown Film Challenge 2010

Check it out

Last weekend I was asked to talk at Youthtown about filmmaking for the final day of the 10 week film course. It was really fun to see the upcoming talent and to talk about my experiences of making films so far. Youthtown also have a film competition which I have entered for the last 5 years. They are holding it again this year, however I’m sadly now to old to enter the comp as it’s for people aged 18 year and under. If you are in this age group and interested in entering the competition I’d highly recommend it. Its a great way to get your films out there and there’s some cool prizes, download the info for the film challenge here. Below is my 2009 entry for the Film Challenge:

48hour Film Competition

Write. Shoot. Cut. Survive!

The V48hours was last weekend, it was a non-stop, action packed, crazy, epic, frantic, manic and rewarding adventure where we made a movie from start to finish in 48hours! We had the most amazing team under Stallion Productions who all did an incredible job! However sadly right at the end of the weekend two hours before the deadline our computer spazzed out causing us to miss the deadline by 10 minutes. 10 minutes! So close! Even though we missed the deadline we still made a movie we’re all proud of in 48hours. Also the film was still screened at the academy cinema which made all the hard work worth while. After the showing we had dinner in town at took some snapps crazy of the team. Over all an amazing time, with everyone moment loved and a movie to show for all the lack of sleep!

Check it below (watch in full screen):
